FAQS
Pilates is a uniquely precise and intelligent approach to exercise and body-conditioning, which gives you a leaner, suppler, more toned body and a calmer, more relaxed mind.
It takes its name from Joseph Pilates, a German-born emigré to Britain and then America, who devised it in the early part of the last century. Pilates is a gentle, non-aerobic exercise method, which lengthens and strengthens the muscles, and improves posture, without stressing the joints or the heart. Indeed, physiotherapists, osteopaths, chiropractors and doctors now recommend Pilates as one of the safest forms of exercise available.
Wherever you learn Pilates, you should make sure that your teacher is properly qualified, since Pilates taught by someone without the right training can do you more harm than good. Yet, many exercise teachers in gyms and elsewhere now include Pilates exercises in their classes, despite themselves never having had any training at all. Our instructors, meanwhile, have had the best training in the business.

The traditional Pilates exercises are broken down and modified to be suitable for orthopaedic, neurological, women's health and sports settings.
You can enjoy a safe workout even if you have lower back pain :-)

Yes, Yummy Pilates’ Prenatal Pilates classes are safe and designed for this special time. Pilates activates the deepest layer of your tummy muscles, which are necessary for stabilising your back and pelvis. Many Pilates exercises are performed on your hands and knees, which is an ideal position for pregnancy. Adopting this position can take some of the strain off your back and pelvis, and, towards the end of your pregnancy, may help to get your baby into the right position for birth. There isn't any research on Pilates which looks at its effects on pregnant women. There is, however, research which shows that it can help to improve your flexibility. And we do know for certain that exercise is good for you during pregnancy. It can also help to recover after birth.
We recommend waiting after the first trimester to join in the prenatal Class. If you have been practising Pilates before you can carry on going to your current classes until about 17 weeks when you stop performing tasks on back and front. Also please also let your instructor know as soon as you can, she might be able to adjust your level. However, it is recommended to join to a prenatal Pilates trained instructor.
When can I come back to exercise after I had a baby?
After you have delivered your baby and you have passed the 6 weeks GP check, it's more likely that you are ready to do some gentle exercises.
The Pilates programme is safe and well recommended after birth. However, if you have any additional physical condition or discomfort in your pelvic or spine area, please consult with your physician before you start Pilates exercises.
Postnatal Pilates is a great way to lose weight and hopefully help you to fit into your old jeans ;) It focuses on building up your very important deep abdominal muscles and pelvic floor muscles. Pilates classes are also a good way to meet other mums, with whom you can share your thoughts. They definitely help you to reduce anxiety and depression.

Please wear something comfortable and I recommend to bring a bottle of water with you to stay hydrated. For a hygienic reason, if you have any warts or verrucas please wear socks. Warts and verrucas are caused by a virus. They can be spread to other people from contaminated surfaces or through close skin contact.
I provide mats and all equipment. If you prefer you can bring your own mats to the class.
The classes is small for a maximum of 8 participants or in the smaller studio is for 4/5 people per session. We know it’s important to pay attention to each person to ensure that moves are carried out correctly.
